F.A.Q.'s about AZ Fear and USA Volleyball

What age division am I in?

USA Volleyball has strict guidelines concerning age. Visit the Arizona Region's website click on the age definitions, plug in your birthdate and it will tell you what age division you must play in.

How much do tryouts cost?

$100 Deposit is required at time of tryouts. Parents must be present at time of tryouts to sign paperwork and review season budget. Deposit will be refunded if child is not selected. If child is selected to be on the team, deposit is applied to the start-up fee.

How much does a season cost and what are the payment options?

Season prices are different for all ages. Specific prices are talked about at tryouts during the parent meeting. Prices are posted on the Forms page. Payments options are: pay the entire season costs up front or make monthly payments, most parents opt to pay the monthly payments.

What are the payment responsibilities?

The Arizona Region considers a player committed to a junior club as soon as the following have been completed:1. A player, or his/her parent/guardian, submits an Arizona Region Individual Membership form along with payment of the AZ Fear Start Up Fee.2. A time period of 24 hours passes after the submission of the player's forms and fees. If a player who is already committed to AZ Fear can not transfer to another club unless they are officially released by the club director. There is no obligation for AZ Fear to release a player. A player release form must be signed by BOTH the director and the parent. It is then given to USA Volleyball for approval. A player is responsible for paying the season costs if they choose to leave.

Is playing time guaranteed?

Club volleyball is a competitive sport which directly determines amount of playing time. Many considerations are involved in the amount of playing time a player receives, for example, player committment to the team, attendance, performance, and attitude. Every player will receive equal attention from the coaches. At tournaments, the coach will take these all into account when determining line-ups.

What about player committment?

This is talked about at the parent meeting, as well as with the individual coach of your child's team.

Practices?

There will be 2 practices per week, unless otherwise told by your coach. Practices last 2 hours. Practices are all located at Diamond Canyon School or Boulder Creek High School. It is extremely important to attend all practices, failure to do so may leave your child sitting on the bench at tournaments.

Tournament Schedule?

Tournament schedules are handed out at the time of tryouts. Typically there is 5-6 tournaments per season. Tournaments are held in Phoenix or Tucson. Specific times and locations are updated weekly on our Calendar tab.

Communications?

All communication will be held through our website or our team mom/dad.
